TriggerPoint Brand

TriggerPoint is a well known brand that specializes in massage and recovery related products. Their products are sold at giant retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods and REI, as well as thousands of smaller, local running and fitness type stores. Here is their brand description from their website:

“TriggerPoint is a life-enhancing brand focused on empowering people to move and feel better. We design and develop innovative massage therapy tools that mimic the touch of a therapist’s hands, so people of all ages, sizes, and athletic ability can feel their best wherever they are. Guided by a passion for improving personal wellness, TriggerPoint has successfully become one of the leaders in at-home massage tools in the athletic, healthcare, and personal wellness markets.”

I had seen their products many times before finally taking the plunge and buying two of their products. I have been experiencing back pain after working in the ICU for the past 2 years (with lots of heavy lifting taking place nearly every shift) and I wanted to see how their products worked for me. The two products I own are the TriggerPoint Handheld Massage Rollerball and the TriggerPoint GRID® Foam Roller. Read below for the hands-on review!

TriggerPoint Handheld Massage Ball

This massage ball may not look like much at first glance. But after using it for the past couple months, I can tell you that looks can be deceiving.

The Handheld Massage Ball is a non-friction ball contained in an ergonomic, triangular shaped silicone handle that fits perfectly into your hand and allows for a really solid grip while in use.

The ball itself is solid and rolls freely over your clothes or skin depending on your preference. Squeezing on the sides of the ball allows for the ball to remain in one place and really helps to dig deep into those tough, tight spots.

The entire Massage Ball itself is just 3x3 inches and only 0.5lbs, so it is extremely portable and can be tossed into your work or gym bag easily. I have mine with me all the time and even bust it out at work if I have a free second and a sore spot needing to take be taken care of.

The TriggerPoint Massage Ball is available on Amazon with fast Prime Delivery and is extremely affordable.

TriggerPoint GRID® Foam Roller

The second product I have been using is the TriggerPoint GRID® Foam Roller. Many of you have probably used a foam roller as their popularity has increased over the past few years. Foam rollers are used to “roll out” muscles that are sore after working out, or in our case, just working.

The GRID® is a hollow core, multi-density foam muscle roller used to “deliver firm compression like a sports massage while channeling blood and oxygen needed to repair muscles”. The GRID® is one of TriggerPoints best selling items and for good reason; it does exactly what it advertises.

I use this roller to focus on a chronic tight hip muscle and it has been the best thing for me to date. I can really focus the rollers edges deep into my hip and the roller maintains its shape no matter what. According to TriggerPoint, it’s rated up to 500 lbs, so you will never have to worry about it losing its shape or function.

The roller is small enough that I can throw it in my gym bag and it doesn’t take up a lot of room, and also super light so it doesn’t weigh me down like some other long and heavy rollers I’ve seen.
