Penn Medicine Doctor Sues Hospital After Being Stabbed Because Hospitals Don’t Care About Their Staff

A Penn Medicine resident physician was stabbed by a psychiatric patient and is now suing the Pennsylvania Hospital, according to this article from “The Daily Pennsylvania”. Apparently Penn doesn’t believe in taking care of and protecting it’s own physicians. The fact that a known psych patient was left alone with a doctor and given a KNIFE on his food tray shows that they really did not have the proper safeguards in place to prevent such an incident.

It is pretty well known nowadays that nurses are abused regularly and patients are rarely if ever held accountable. If this is how Penn treats their very own physicians in training, I am terrified to think what the nursing staff is exposed to on a regular basis. Healthcare providers never deserve to be abused by patients, and a hospital system that turns a blind eye to it just makes the problem even worse than it already is.

Pennsylvania Hospital; do the right thing, settle this case and FIX the problems that you so clearly have within your hospitals. We wont’t hold our breath though.
