Houston Methodist Hospital Suspends 178 Hospital Workers For Refusing COVID Vaccine And No One Should Feel Bad

178 hospital workers at Houston Methodist have been suspended after refusing to receive the COVID vaccine and staging a walkout after the hospital required all staff to receive the vaccine. Now, I am honestly not sure how most people feel about this. But in my mind, these people dug their own grave (figuratively, and maybe literally, too). When you choose to go into a healthcare related field, you are also agreeing to some things that the general population doesn’t necessarily have to do. At every hospital I’ve ever worked at, the flu vaccine has been required. Getting fitted to a N95 respirator has been required. Showing up for your damn job has been REQUIRED.

These workers were apparently unaware of the pandemic that has been raging for the past year and killed millions of people. But they don’t care about that. No, they care about their “freedoms” and “liberties”. They would rather prove a political point than get a damn shot. They would rather parade around with signs and at demonstrations instead of showing up and doing their job, like millions of other workers out there who don’t complain, get their shots, and go to work.

These people are a stain on the medical community and honestly make us all look shitty, even if it’s a tiny portion of the community. Nurses are the most trusted profession and I’ll be damned if 178 people in Texas are going to ruin that trust.

The bottom line is, healthcare is a selfless profession. If you are more worried about freedoms and liberties than saving lives, please kindly see yourself out.
