Sockwell offers a unique, merino wool compression sock that is designed to wick away moisture while providing much needed compression during a 12 hour shift. Read below for details on these awesome socks!

Sockwell is an American based company that specializes in one thing: socks. And they do it will. These compression socks are some of the highest quality that you can buy. While they aren’t cheap, they are definitely worth the extra cost to me when it comes to working 12 hour shifts, especially during a pandemic. Read below for my detailed, hands-on review of the Sockwell Incline Moderate Compression Sock.

First Impression

One thing that always stands out to me in a company is if they are based in and make their products in the USA. While other companies flock to making their products overseas to save money, companies like Sockwell who value their American roots is something that is rare nowadays and something I value highly. As for the socks, I picked up a pair on sale at a local store and was initially drawn in by the fact that these socks are made up partially of merino wool. Typically, I only wear merino wool when I am going hiking or wearing my winter boots. So to think about merino wool in a compression sock really intrigued me. Sockwell says that the merino wool helps to wick away moisture, helping to decrease sweaty and wet socks. Touching the sock for the first time, I could feel the high quality stitching and material that Sockwell uses. It really feels like a premium product right off the bat.

Comfort

I won’t lie to you, these were some of the hardest compression socks to put on. You really have to work it up your leg to get it all the way on. While some people find this annoying, I like it because it means that the sock is actually providing the 15-20 mmHg of compression that it advertises. Once on, the sock has an amazing cooling effect that compression socks are known for and you can really feel the wool composition. The toe and heel are reinforced with thicker material, which will hopefully cause it to be more durable than other compression socks made of thinner material in these areas. It also helps when wearing these with my Dansko’s, which have a fairly hard surfaced sole. While they aren’t as silky smooth as the FIGS 100% Awesome Compression Socks, they feel just like my favorite pairs of merino wool hiking socks.

Colors and Options

I really like the color options that Sockwell offers. They are more understated than some brands, so you won’t find many bright or popping colors. But they do offer many different designs so you will be able to find something you like. Sockwell also offers other types of specialty socks including plantar fasciitis socks, bunion relief socks, and regular compression socks.

Durability and Sizing

Since I just got these and have only worn them a couple times, I can’t give you a full durability rating quite yet. But as I mentioned above, these Sockwells have a high-quality, reinforced toe and heel portion that I am confident will hold up to many months of regular use. For sizing, as I said above they are a little tough to put on, but that only makes me think higher of them and confident that they are providing the advertised amount of compression. I wear a size 10.5 and followed the sizing chart on the box, and they seem to fit perfectly so don’t be afraid to buy them online without trying them on in person, they should fit perfect.

Conclusion

Sockwell has created an extremely high quality sock that stands out from the pack due to their inclusion of merino wool. That combined with the fact that they are made in the US makes these my new favorite compression sock for nurses. Check out the link below to buy and leave your comments below!
